Legal
Terms for using Loonie.
These terms set the practical boundaries for using Loonie. They should be read together with the Privacy Policy.
Last updated August 26, 2026Loonie is a planning and record-keeping tool. It is not a brokerage, portfolio manager, tax calculator, or substitute for professional advice. You remain responsible for every financial decision and trade.
Agreement and eligibility
By creating an account or using Loonie, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must have reached the age of majority in your province or territory of residence and be legally able to enter into these terms. Loonie is designed for Canadian household managers maintaining their own household planning records.
The service
Loonie lets a household manager record people, accounts, contribution room, allocation targets, positions, portfolio snapshots, and contribution plans. We may add, change, or remove features, and the service may occasionally be interrupted or discontinued.
Loonie is currently provided without a subscription fee. If paid features are introduced, you will receive the applicable price and terms before any charge is made.
Not financial, tax, or legal advice
Loonie provides mechanical planning calculations based on the values, positions, targets, priorities, and contribution-room figures you enter. It does not assess whether a security, account, target, or strategy is suitable for you and does not provide investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice.
Loonie does not connect to a brokerage, hold assets, place orders, recommend sales, verify prices, or calculate official CRA contribution room. An output shows how a contribution could be allocated among the positions you entered; it is not a recommendation that any security is suitable for you. Confirm contribution room against your own records and CRA information, and consider qualified professional advice when appropriate.
Your information and responsibilities
- Provide information you reasonably believe is accurate and current.
- Review every output before relying on it or placing a trade.
- Correct recorded values and contribution room when they change.
- Have appropriate authority or consent to enter information about other members of your household.
- Use the service only for lawful household-planning purposes.
You retain ownership of information you enter. You authorize Loonie and its service providers to process that information only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
Plans, estimates, and investment risk
Contribution plans are estimates generated from a recorded snapshot. They can become stale when values, account settings, contribution room, or targets change. Loonie does not guarantee that a plan is optimal, suitable, available to execute, or free from error.
Investments can gain or lose value. Past or recorded values do not guarantee future results. You are solely responsible for deciding whether, when, and how to place any trade.
Account security
Keep your password and sign-in links confidential, use a unique password, and sign out on shared devices. You are responsible for activity through your account until you notify us of suspected unauthorized access. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use Loonie for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.
- Attempt to access another household or another user's account.
- Probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass service security.
- Reverse engineer or copy the service except where law permits.
- Upload malicious code or use automated access that harms the service.
Third-party services
Loonie relies on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, and email. Their services may be governed by their own terms and may experience outages or changes outside Loonie's control. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not make Loonie responsible for their content or services.
Availability and termination
We may suspend access to protect users or the service, investigate a violation, comply with law, or discontinue the service. You may stop using Loonie at any time and delete your household and account from Household settings or request deletion through the contact page.
Disclaimers and responsibility
Loonie is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free calculations, preservation of every record, or any financial result.
To the extent permitted by law, Loonie and its operator are not responsible for losses arising from trades or financial decisions, inaccurate or stale inputs, third-party services, outages, or use that violates these terms. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service changes. The updated date will appear at the top of this page, and material changes may receive additional notice. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept them.
